In all its unpredictable ways, life is beautiful, and one of the ways we witness this, is the possibility to give birth through a surgical procedure usually called, C-Section. In critical situations where the lives of the mother and the baby are at risk due to complications during labor, the doctor usually cuts a midline vertical incision on the abdominal area and the uterine wall.

Why?
The obstetrician is aware of and wants to avoid possible high danger delivery situations due to these and several other reasons:
The baby has certain birth defects
The mother has problems with the placenta, i.e. it separates from the uterine wall too soon
The umbilical cord is pinched and shortens the baby’s oxygen supply
The baby is feet or bottom first in the womb
Recovery
Take all prescribed medication on recommendation.
Keep all essentials within an easily reachable distance i.e. nappies, snacks, water, phone.
Eat healing foods: Protein sources (lean meats and eggs), Vitamin A (carrots, mangoes, sweet and potatoes).
Healing physically may be easy due to readily available steps the emotional scars that come from surgical birth may go unnoticed as many women tend to feel a sense of disappointment from the experience, this could be due to the unexpectedness of the procedure. Some women have a hard time dealing with the scarring and feel unattractive due to the sudden change in their appearance. This could result from set standards for what is beautiful. However, it is in knowing that you are scarred for life- for physically unlocking creation and giving life, we should see beauty in C-section. “I used to feel bad about my scars but I got these to save my son’s life and I would do it again” our model and mother, Sinazo Rigala says. It is in celebrating all parts of ourselves we grow, even those that we never expected because we realize that we are art and in all that exists there is art.
